Apple Fitness is Apple's own app, and its Activity rings are the habit tracker most iPhone owners already have. Everything said about it here comes from Apple's App Store listing and support pages (Get started with Fitness on iPhone, Adjust your Activity ring goals), read October 10, 2026.
The main difference
Apple Fitness has three daily rings. "The red Move ring shows how many active calories you've burned," the green Exercise ring counts "minutes of brisk activity," and the blue Stand ring counts hours you "stood and moved for at least 1 minute." You can set each ring's goal by the day of the week, and pause your rings for up to 90 days without breaking your award streak. On an iPhone alone, Apple lists the Move ring; Exercise and Stand come with an Apple Watch.
Landmark reads the same data from Apple Health and lets you choose the habits: steps, workouts, strength sessions, a bedtime, protein, water, mindful minutes and more, each with its own target, each day, week or month.

When Apple Fitness is all you need
- The three rings are the habits you want, and closing them each day keeps you moving.
- You want guided workout classes, which Fitness+ has.
- You like sharing rings and competing with friends.
- You want nothing more to install.
Landmark does not replace any of that. It reads the same data, so the two run side by side.
When Landmark adds something
- You want habits beyond the rings: steps, strength sessions, a bedtime, protein, water, time in daylight.
- You think in weeks or months: 150 exercise minutes a week rather than 30 every single day, so a busy Tuesday can be made up on Saturday.
- You want to see how much is left and whether you are on track, not only whether a ring closed.
- You want to watch a goal, like your weight, next to the habits that serve it.
